Todays Models
One thing that is really getting on my nerves lately is this size thing with models and how people keep pointing the finger at models being the one to blame for young girls having eating disorders.
Come on now lets look at everything here if there is anyone to blame then i would say its celebs like Victoria Beckham & Nicole Richie and when you really think about it it's these women that are in the public eye alot more because of their problems with food, plus alot of young girls look up to these names because they are always featured in glossy mags talking about the same thing, lets face it they are everywhere in comparison to high fashion models that half of the younger population probably dont even know who most of theses girls are that are on the catwalk.
I'm a size 6 and i have always been this way, no matter how much i eat my weight wont change but this does not mean i have a eating disorder because i dont but people have to realize some girls are naturally thin, i have worked at fashion shows and i have see what these girls eat and i bet they eat more than the two celebs i have mentioned and these are only a example of celebs that are always in magazines talking about there eating disorders so this is why girls think its normal, you dont see models in articles talking about their diet do you.
Leave the models alone & the idea of a ban is totally stupid.
Oh one more thing this size zero thing is from America and you can guess what big names invented this and it does not include any fashion models. :?

I completely agree with what you're saying. I am naturally very tiny as well and I eat so much. I think it's ridiculous that they are thinking of banning certain models from modeling because they are too small - they don't completely ban plus size models for being too big. I blogged about this subject in my blog here: http://www.thinkfashion.com/blogs/stylosity_style_scene/archive/2006/09/18/97046.aspx if you're interested in hearing more about my opinion.
Overall, I totally agree with you and I'm interested in hearing your opinion of my post. Feel free to leave a comment!

Models can be naturally skinny.
But! actresses, teenagers?? it mental illness to want the body of an undeveloped female pre-puberty, average 12 year old.
Females have curves thats being a women, children girls or boys do not!
Why do these young women want bodies of a child?? mental illness its a wide spread epidemic, threatening early death and national health cost spinning out of control when they reach their fifties and sixties. Side by side with the other end of scale, fatties fed on crap at home and school. Generations of poisoned British children. So factory owners/ blue chip brokers, men/women who wash the governmants hands make money.Only people die and the people keep having babies, so "No problem".
I said Fat, i'll say "skinny rakes", not very PC what a joke! They can kill the nation slowly parents/government, with all the crap in food they allow to be sold/buy. But we are all meant to say nothing.....http://upload4.postimage.org/1210957/8years.jpg (http://upload4.postimage.org/1210957/photo_hosting.html)

ive never been thin, and people still fancy me.
I think the governments need to tackle these problems at the root, by teaching basic feminism to girls. I think the basis of this is that women just don't appreciate themselves and each other enough. I remember high school, and all the bitching that went on, and i think it'd be easy to slip into serious enough self-doubt to develop an eating disorder.

True, some people are naturally skinny, but I think that it's quite obvious that some of these models are svelte to an unhealthy point. No one should have a visible ribcage!

So so true, The banning thing is not for "skinny" models- it's for models whose BMI- body mass index is below what is considered healthy as set by medical standards. ANd it was the BMI that Spain used to qualify the models for fashion week's runway shows. Being a nurse- I totally understand this and agree with it. There are plenty of beautiful successful models who are healthy- all of the Victoria's Secret models! Kate Moss is "skinny" but I'm pretty sure she has a healthy BMI- and her ribs don't show.
However, I do not believe the glamorization of unhealthy models is totally to blame for eating disorders- there are typically plenty of psychological issues hiding under the "blamming models and celebs".

i totally agree. its one thing to be thin and then another to be unhealthy. there is a difference between people naturally thin who look it and those who clearly have a problem.(ie.nicole richie.-no matter how much she denys it)

i love skinny people. They look best in the clothes on offer in the mainstream, however they do look crap in clothes that need curves. There is such a thing as too skinny and thats anorexic. Models are naturally thin and cant help it. Im proof of that - i may not be a model but i am skinny and i eat everything in sight but still maintain my size 8-10 figure without doing much exercise. Some are just luckily built i guess. I wish people would stop persecuting thin people - were fabulous!
