How do you all feel about MTV allowing Britney Spears opening the Video Music Awards? I am all for giving this poor train-wreck of a girl a 10th chance (not second chance) at fame...but on live TV??? I cannot help but think she may make a huge fool of herself....

It did more harm than good, and it goes to show you how celebrities are not people to idolize. They are not perfect and the answer to everyone's problems. In most cases, they are shallow people who are privileged and still don't care about anything. Oh well, but I'm sorry to say, I could care less about Britney Spears.

she didn't HAVE to perform. Kanye West was supposed to open the show, but Britney said she wanted to...She showed up to her dress rehersal 3 hours late with a margarita in her hand, and walked through half of her dance moves.

I used to perform on stage...it's nothing you HAVE to do, it's something you WANT to do, clearly...she's lost her desire, becuase she was awful!

One reason I am so negative about Britney, is because my friend who works as a waitress at a restaurant for an airline, got called into Britney's plane when it was on the ground, and she walked in to see Britney in he bra and lying on a couch. My friend brought her food she ordered to her, and Britney took one look at it and slapped it out of her hands and yelled at her, calling her white trash. My friend ran out of the plane crying.

After hearing about this, I never cared for Britney and never will.

Well, you are entitled to your opinion, but I know this happened for a fact. You can believe what you want, but realize what you believe is what the media wants you to. That just proves a point. You say she wouldn't do it. What do you have to back that up? Were you there? Do you know her personally? Otherwise, how can you justify your comments?

P.S. this story came from more than one person, and not just people I knew, but officials at the airport.

I totally agree. I'm not a Britney fan at all (don't listen to that kind of music) but I feel really bad for her. I'm sure she can be a major b*tch but it's obviously because she's got major issues and needs therapy. She doesn't know what a normal life is so she has no way of knowing how to behave normally. She obviously has some inner problems she needs to work out but doesn't know how. She's been showing signs of major depression and stress for a while now and instead of people/the media being supportive, some have crucified her for it and taken the opportunity to kick her while she's down. Some people are pretty harsh.

I've been through depression and I know that it's sometimes like you're not in your right state of mind and you just don't care about anything (ex - Britney at the VMA's), except when you get angry and you go off the wall (ex - Britney taking the umbrella to the cars of the media following her). Funny enough, when I was depressed I even chopped off all my hair like Britney (of course this was years ago, long before Britney did it) - I didn't shave it, just cut it really short. But it just goes to show how being depressed can make you do crazy and drastic things.

I guess the people out there who have never experienced that have no sympathy for it but I think it's time that people/the media laid off Britney and just hope that she gets the help she needs so she can be happy which would maybe make her a better person, not the b*tch from all these stories. It's like some people would rather see her life ruined rather than see her get help and learn to be a better person - which is pretty mean spirited.
